Frequently asked questions

At Bellesoleil French Bulldogs, we understand that choosing a French Bulldog is a big decision. Here, you'll find answers to frequently asked questions designed to help you make an informed choice. We are dedicated to breeding for the love of Frenchies and ensuring they go to the best homes.

What is the temperament of a French Bulldog?

French Bulldogs are known for their affectionate, playful, and adaptable nature. They are generally good with children and other pets, making them excellent family companions. They are also relatively low-energy dogs, requiring moderate exercise and playtime.

How much does a French Bulldog puppy cost?

The cost of a French Bulldog puppy can vary depending on several factors, including lineage, conformation to breed standards, and breeder reputation. Please contact us directly for information on our current prices and availability.

Our puppies are fully health checked, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and available on limited registration.  Occasionally we may consider mains registration.

Where do you send your puppies?

We carefully screen potential owners to ensure our puppies go to loving and responsible homes. We primarily place puppies within Western Australia but can send interstate on a case by case basis. Our priority is always the well-being of our Frenchies.

Are French Bulldogs good with children?

Yes, generally French Bulldogs are known to be good with children. Their playful and affectionate nature makes them great family pets. However, as with any dog breed, early socialisation and proper training is important to ensure a safe and positive relationship.

What is a brachycephalic breed, and what does it mean for French Bulldogs?

Brachycephalic refers to breeds with shortened snouts, like French Bulldogs. This conformation can lead to certain health concerns, such as Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS). At Bellesoleil French Bulldogs, we prioritize breeding for health and aim to minimize these risks through careful selection and health testing.

What health testing do you perform on your breeding dogs?

We conduct comprehensive health testing on all our breeding dogs to ensure they are healthy and free from genetic conditions that could be passed on to their offspring. Learn more about our Frenchies.

How much exercise do French Bulldogs need?

French Bulldogs require moderate exercise to stay healthy and happy. Daily walks and playtime are important, but it's crucial to avoid overexertion, especially in hot weather, due to their brachycephalic nature. Short, frequent exercise sessions are generally better than long, strenuous activities.

What kind of food should I feed my French Bulldog?

We recommend feeding your French Bulldog a high-quality, balanced diet formulated for small breeds. Consult with your veterinarian to determine the best food and portion sizes for your dog's individual needs, age, and activity level. Always ensure fresh water is available.
